Sampling of stream sediments for leaching test and rocks for mineralogical analysis

From July 3rd to July 4th, the MURmap team collected samples for further leaching tests. Samples were collected from two sites with rich mining and processing activities, at three locations: upstream and downstream of the source of anthropogenic activity, and near the source. The selected anthropogenic sources were the area of the abandoned arsenic mine in the Rotgülden valley and the area of the steelworks in Donawitz near Leoben. In addition to stream sediments for further leaching tests, rocks and gravels were also collected near the Mur spring in Hintermuhr to determine the mineralogical composition of the background material.
