From April 11 to 14, 2023, Ulrike and Barbara studied and worked at the National Chemical Institute (NIC) in Ljubljana, where they learned how to accomplish multi-acid digestion in collaboration with Martin Šala and laboratory assistants. This process is necessary to digest solid materials to further perform e.g., multi-element analysis with ICP-MS. After being instructed and trained in lab procedures, filters with suspended particulate matter (SPM) collected at 41 sampling locations during the sampling campaign in February 2023 were digested. The digests are now prepared for ICP-MS and MC-ICP-MS, which will be carried out at the NIC and the Montanuniversität Leoben, respectively.
